ABOUT
The mission of the Business Magnet Program is to develop future business leaders who are prepared, knowledgeable and skilled in the global business environment. Business Magnet Program students are prepared to compete at the nation’s most prestigious business schools.
The program, which has a relationship with the highly-ranked Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine, provides students with an instructional curriculum, co-curricular activities, and opportunities to apply knowledge to hands-on experiences to be successful in college and beyond. The program emphasizes the core values of JSerra including faith, integrity, pursuit of excellence and a commitment to service.
The curriculum exposes students to lecturers from UC Irvine and allows them firsthand experiences on the university’s campus. Students receive hands-on training in resume preparation and interview skills and an internship in their senior year. A broad variety of courses are enhanced through Future Business Leaders of America’s conferences and competitions.

THE ADVISORS
MRS. CHAFFEE
Mrs. Chaffee is currently the Program Director for the Business Magnet Program at JSerra. She has worked for numerous Fortune 500 Companies for 20+ years. She also started her own business in 1983 and sold it in 1991. She has a degree in mathematics and taught high school mathematics prior to entering the business arena.
MRS. BERGMAN
Mrs, Bergman is currently the assistant director of the Business Magnet Program at JSerra. She has worked in both marketing and finance, and later started her own accounting and financial management reporting company. Mrs. Bergman is very excited to share her all of her experience in the business field and allow students to apply what they are learning to a real world application.
THE STUDENTS
The JSerra Business Magnet is a student-run program. The program itself has 16 different officers, who all work together, with the help of the advisers, to not only make the program work but also to ensure that we win gold seal every year. Since the magnet program is a part of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) the officers go to special conferences to meet other school and figure out ways to improve the program. All students are welcome to come to FBLA's other conferences as well, such as LDI, and all students grades 10-12 participate in competitions through FBLA. Throughout the different business classes, the students will learn very useful skills that will help them in the business world later in life. These include interview skills, money management, and public speaking. Our students also get an internship one-semester senior year. Overall the program is student-run and student-focused to ensure the best education and experience for all.
